WORD BY SOAMI SANT DAS JI MAHARAJ WITH HIS OWN GRACE
“NIJ MAUJ”

Santmat or Gurumat or Radhasoami mat are the different names of the same origin. Firstly, Kabir sahib started santmat. In this mat, surati shabda is granted. All the saints – Gurunanak Dev, Sant Ravidas, Meerabai, Tulsidas sahib, Paltu Saheb, Dadu Dayal, Garib sahib, Radhasoami etc were concerned with the same faith i.e. surati shabda margh.

Radhasoami matt was propounded by Huzur Maharaj, gurumukh of Soami ji Agra. Since then saint faith(santmat) is known as Radhasoami mat. Now with the mauj of sahib ji, I have named it as GURUMAT. In this mat, guru is the most important. Guru and God are the same. The important thing is that the spirit gets salvation if it loves or keeps affection with guru. I also advocate for Surat shabda margh which has been followed by all the saints and it will remain the same forever. Whosoever comes in the shelter of guru, is blessed with Naam or Shabda. By the service to guru, one’s spirit awakens and begins to realize shabda.

Guru means Puran Dhani or sachcha guru i.e. Sant satguru. Satguru is one whose spirit becomes shabda roop or shabda and spirit become the same. He knows the great secret mystery up to satnam Anami. Guru mat is known as Gupt mat also. It’s reality lies in spirit and that is secret.

No one can understand the importance of Guru in this whole macrocosm. But people have told about the importance of guru according to their own. The complete form of guru is in `Anamidham`. So the saints coming from Dhurdham can tell truly about the importance of guru. The greatness of guru can not be expressed in words, nor can it be studied.

Whatever comes within the limits of words or study about the greatness of guru is incomplete. One can know about guru only in body. No one knows about the greatness of guru and only true saints know of the importance and greatness of `Naam`. So first know about naam. Naam is of two types-

DESCRIPTIVE NAAM
Descriptive naam is what can be expressed in words or can be read I.e. Ram, Krishna, Gopal, Allah, God etc. This naam is essentially expressed in some language.

SOUND NAAM OR DIVINE SOUND
Shabda i.e. sound always flows like a wave from the conscious form of satguru. It can be realized by the spirit only. It is beyond the limits of Mann(thoughts) and senses. God or satguru is the reservoir of divine light. Out of that waves are continuously rising or flowing and out of those waves, a particular kind of divine sound is produced is Naam or shabda. The form of jiva was also of shabda when he was in this lok. He was immersed in satguru. But when lower platforms were created, jiva also descended. And later, by and by, he forgot his origin i.e. satguru. This shabda or Ram nam is beyond changes i.e. true. Let us see what is truth or reality.

Truth is what never changes. It remains the same forever. The named of Ram is true so Ram nam is truth. It is in the form of divine sound and divine light. False is what changes with the course of time. It takes form and loses it’s existence with the passage of time. This body is perishable and it’s relations and worldly possessions are also subject to destruction. What ever can be seen with eyes or felt with senses or thought in mind is false. Goswami ji speaks out-
‘Go gochar jahan lag man jai, so sab maya janeo bhai.’

This world is called false because it is perishable. Besides, the heaven, the hell, teen lok, chaudah bhuvan etc are also perishable or subject to destroy one day. This human body possesses one thing which only is truth without which one is declared dead. This thing is soul. Saints call it surati.

Surati is the part or ansh of sattpurush. This is immortal and beyond destruction or demise. Soul came from sattsindhu and got trapped in this macrocosm. Satguru redeems it from the hands of Kaal and Maya i.e. this macrocosm.
From sattsindhu, spirit came down to` daswan dwar` and got trapped in this body with five elements, three dispositions at teesra til. Two currents of spirit stay at two points of eyes and the third current diffuses to six charkas of body. Thus spirits diffuses in the whole body. It is satguru who can make the spirit return to its abode through shabda margh.

I again declare wherever the importance of naam is expressed by saints, it is divine sound. Worldly people have thought it as descriptive one. Goswami Tulsidas ji depicts-

‘Agun sagun dui brahma swaroopa, Akath agadh andi anupa,
More mat bad nam duhute, kiye jehin jug nij bas nij bute.’

Sagun and nirgun are the two forms of Brahma. Both are beyond description but I (GOSWAMI JI) consider naam more important than these both. Goswami ji further says that-

‘Nirgun te ahi bhanti bad naam prabhau apara,
kahun naamu bad ram te nij vichar anusar.
Brahma Ram te naamu badhh bar dayak bardani,
Ram charit satkoti mahan liye Mahesh jiyen jani.’

‘NIRGUN AND SAGUN’ both are born of NAAM (SHABD). The whole creation is made out of SHABD.

‘Kahon kahan lagi naam badai,
Ram na sakahin naam gun gaai.’

Even Ram can not explain the greatness of Naam.

‘Naam roop gati akath kahani,
Samujhat sukhad na parati bakhani.’

Naam and roop are beyond description but on realization, they are most pleasing. When one gets naam and rup in body, his spirit enjoys unlimited pleasure and satisfaction. Goswami ji depicts- KALYUG KEWAL NAAM ADHARA. In kalyug, there is no other way to get salvation but with naam. GOSWAMI JI FURTHER SAYS--`NAHIN KALI KARM NA BHAKTI VIVEKU, RAAM NAAM AWLAMBAN EKU.` In kalyug, karm yoga, bhakti yoga and gyan yoga are fruitless. Only Ram naam will serve the purpose.

Goswami ji says-

`SOI BHAV TAR KACHHU SANSAY NAHI, NAAM PRATAP PRAGAT KALI MAAHIN.`

Naam was present in all the four ages but it came into operation in kalyuga by saints. On the importance of Naam, SWAMI JI AGRA WALE DEPICTS-

`SHABDAHIN MACHHLI SABDAHIN NEER,SHABD BAKHANE SATT KABIR,
SHABD BATAVEN NANAK PEER, SHABD LAKHAVEN TULSI DHEER`.

‘SHABD SARUPI SHABD ABHYASI, AS GURU MILE TO PAAR HUA,
SHABD SURATI BIN JO GURU GOI, TAKO CHHODO PAP KATA. ’

“SHABD NE RACHI RILOKI SARI, SHABD SE MAYA FAILI BHARI.”
SHABD E UND BRAHMAND RACHA RI, SHABD SE SAAT DEEP NAU KHAND BANARI,
SHABD NE GUN TINO AUR PARJA DHARI, SHABD SE DHARNI AKASH KHARA RI,
SHABD NE JEEVA AUR BRAHMA KIYA RI, SHABDA SE CHAND AUR SURYA BHAYA RI,
SHABDA NE SUNNA MAHASUNN SANWARI, SHABDA NE CHAUTHA LOK KARA RI,
SHABDA KA MARAG SANT NIKARI, SANT BIN KOI NA MARM LAKHA RI”.

All the saints i.e. Kabir sahib, Tulsi sahib, Guru Nanak Dev etc have advocated shabda marg. According to them, guru without shabda must be given up. Shabda has created this whole universe and its material, spirits, Brahma, Chautha lok, sunn and mahasunn and even Alakh Niranjan. On the greatness of Shabda, it is stated-

“Sab ki adi shabd ko jaan, ant sabhi ka shabd pichhan,
teen lok aur chautha lok, shabd racha yeh sabhi thok”.

“Shabda guru aur shabdahi das, shabd bina jhoothi sab aas,
shabda bina sab jhootha gyan, shabda bina sab thotha dhyan”.

“Shabda gyan guru gyan pichhano, aur guru sab jhoothe jano,
bin guru pure hath na aawe, guru pura jo shabda lakhave”.

“Shabda kaho chahe dhun anhad, aur arth nahin ye hi adbhut ,
bar bar main kaha banai, shabda bina nai aur kamai.”

“Surati shabda ka marag leeje, satlok ko payana keeje”.

SHABD is the real form of Satguru :-

“Shabda swaroopi sang hain kabhi na hote door,
surati basao shabda me dekhega sattnoor”.

On the importance of Naam. Saligram i.e. Huzur sahib says-

“Jaan murdon ki uthe kabra se bhag., aisa hai andar ka baja aur rag,
Pehle jahir hua shabda bhandar, fir paida hua usse sab sansar”.

On the greatness of Naam, Paltu sahib says-

“Naam naam sab kahat hain, naam na paya koi,
Naam na paya koi, naam ki gati hai nyari,
wahi sakas ko mile, jinhone asha mari,
haun ko kare khamos, hosh na tan ko rakhe,
gagan gupha ke eech, piyala prem ka chakhai”

“Sant sanehi nam hai, naam sanehi sant,
naam sanehi sant, naam ko wahi milave,
wo hai wakifkar, Milan ki rah batabe,
jap, tap, teerath, barat kare bahutera koi,
bina washeela sant Naam se bhent na hoi,
kotin kare upay, bhatak sagron se awe,
sant dware jaye, naam ko ghar tab pawe,
Paltu yeh hai pran par, aadi seti aur ant,
Sant sanehi naam hai, naam sanehi sant”.

About naam Paltu sahib says-

“Dhun aane jo gagan ki, so mera gurudev,
so mera gurudev, sev mein karihon waki,
shabda me hai galtan, awastha aisi jaaki.”

The real form of God and guru is shabda. So Kabir sahib has said-

“Guru Gobind to ek hain, duja yeh aakar,
aapa met jivit mare , to pawe kartar.”

Meerabai was constantly in the devotion of Krishna for last consecutive hundred years. In the remembrance of Krishna, she was lying fainted then sant Ravi Das met her and He gave her that Naam. Meerabai quoted-

“Payo ji maine naam rattan dhan payo,
wastu amolak di mere satguru kirpa kar apnayo”.

The same surati shabda margh was adopted by Meerabai. Meerabai says-

“Meera man mani surati sail asmani,
jab-jab surati lage wa ghar ki, pal pal nainan pani,
jyon hiye peer teer sam salat, kasak-kasak kaskan.,
raat diwas mohe neend na aawe, bhawat ann na pani.
Aisi peer virah tan bheetar, jagat rain bihani.
Aisa vaidh milai koi bhedi, desh videsh pichhani.
Ta se peer kahon tan keri, phir nahin bharmo khani.
Khojat phiron bhed wa ghar ka, kou na karat bakhani.
Raidas sant mile mohi satguru, deenhi surati sehdani.
Main mili jai pai piye apna, tab meri peer bujhani.
Meera khak khalak sir dari, main apna ghar jaani.”
